Free Play Florida Electronic Gaming Expo is a presentation of The Byte Amusement Group, a Florida 501c3 non profit electronic gaming organization. At Maker Faire Orlando 2017, we will present the work of a number of different makerspaces and skillsets as they come together across florida to help us build these giant machines. Components include laser cutting, CNC milling and machining, laminating, 3d modelling, casting/molding, turning (lathe), woodworking, and electronics.
We will share the process of creating a 10 foot aluminum skeleton, laminating and cutting various materials on a CNC router, laser cutting various plastic parts, 3d printing and molding parts and printing with the help of florida makerspaces including Factur, Tampa Hackerspace, and MakerFX.
The primary objective of Byte Amusement Group is to produce educational, family-oriented events. We partner with individuals of historical significance in the creation, art, and manufacturing of amusement machines and allow them to relate their stories in a public venue. This lets us provide educational opportunities about pinball, arcade and consoles, including mathematics, physics, electricity, and the history as reflected in the technology and art of the machines.
